Baby-Ready Pets
Presented by Dane County Humane Society and Teacher's Pet Training Academy, LLC
Introducing a baby or young child into your home can be exciting and overwhelming and will change everyone's lives, including your "first" baby's. You may have the fear of your pets not doing well with children, or diseases such as toxoplasmosis, or worry about not having enough time to spend with your pet.
Baby-Ready Pets will help you prepare and answer these concerns. This class is designed to help prepare expectant parents and their pets for the arrival of the baby. We will focus on topics such as:
- Preparing your pets to new sounds, sights, smells, and schedules before the arrival of the baby
- Introducing your pet for the first time to your new baby
- Disease concern answers
- Identifying and addressing specific behavior issues.
Attend this program to learn how to prepare your pets and yourself for the new changes your baby will make in the household dynamic. We will also discuss safe and appropriate behavior for children to help them be respectful to their pets. We recommend attending class when you are 3 to 4 months pregnant.
With careful preparation and dedication the arrival of your baby can be quite successful!
