Maggie
I thought you might like to know how the dog we adopted is doing. She was known as Snickers when she was there. We're very happy to have her, and she's doing really well. Here's a letter from her point of view. I've also attached a couple of photos, one of just her and one of her with our other three dogs.
My name is Maggie. I used to be called Snickers when I was an on and off resident of DCHS. I don’t know what I was named before that because I was found wandering around at a park with no home. I was adopted twice but things didn’t work out for me at those houses. Now I live on 22 acres of land in a wonderful house with Rich, Kay, my dog sister, Abbie, and dog brothers Louie and Simon. I’m really happy now and am starting to realize this will always be my home. I get along great with everyone. I follow the other dogs everywhere and do everything they do, and I’ve never had an accident in the house. I taught Rich that I only like my dry food separate from my canned food, so now I get two separate bowls. I taught Kay that once I’ve gone out in the morning and gotten my treats, I want to go back to bed and sleep late. I love to play ball as much as possible, and I like to sit on the back of chairs so I can see everywhere, seeing that I’m very short. The most exciting time around here is when we all go on walks. Last weekend I went on a 3-mile walk and kept up with everyone. I was a little worried the other day when I was dropped off at the vet’s, but they came to get me, so I guess I was just there temporarily to get my teeth cleaned. I had gum disease and now my teeth feel much better. I also got a bath and am much softer than I used to be.
While I was at DCHS, all of the staff and volunteers were so loving and patient with me. My family and I want everyone to know we are very grateful for their kindness and for giving me the chance to find my new home.
