SNAP: SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

DCHS offers low cost spay and neuter assistance programs for both individuals and rescue groups. If you are in need of assistance for either companion or feral animals, please let us help! Every day is spay day at Dane County Humane Society!

Shelter News

DCHS CLOSED - JULY 4

The shelter will be completely closed on Friday, July 4 in honor of the holiday.  Staff will be unavailable via telephone and no appointments will be made.  On Saturday, July 5 we will begin answering phones again at 10:00am and our doors will open at 12:00pm.  Thank you for understanding!

Community Dog and Cat Survey

The dogs and cats of Dane County need your participation!  Maddie's Fund, a pet rescue foundation, is looking to support a community collaborative effort in Dane County, Wisconsin where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home.  Now is the time to share your valuable input and help pave the way for a successful adoption guarantee community!   Please take a moment to complete a very quick and easy survey located here.

Help Grant Some Wishes!

Currently we are in great need of canned dog and puppy food, squeeze cheese in a can,cat litter (clay, non-clumping, unscented), paper plates, napkins, and white and colored copy paper.  These items are used regularly at the shelter and our supplies are almost completely diminished!  Please help us by donating these items.  Items can be dropped off at the main shelter on Voges Road.  For our full wish list, please click here.

Upcoming Events

Camp Pawprint - July 7 to August 29

If you love animals, Camp Pawprint is the place for you!  This animal adventure camp consists of weekly sessions for campers ages 7 to 14.  Camp sessions are one week long and you can sign up for as many as you like.  Space is limited, so register now!  Click here for more information.

Dane County Fair - July 16 to 20

The Dane County Fair educates, entertains, showcases, and celebrates the achievements of local organizations.  DCHS will be there with general shelter information, products, activities, and adoptable animals.  Join us for some furry friends, fair food, and fun!

DCHS Day at the Ballpark - August 4

Help homeless animals and have fun!  Join DCHS as the Madison Mallards take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs.  In addition to baseball fun, we will be bringing along some adoptable animals for you to meet and greet.  Tickets are only $6 with $2 of each ticket sold going to support the animals and programs of DCHS!  Tickets must be purchased at www.mallardsgroups.com with the password "giveshelter" in order for DCHS to receive a donation!

Swim with Dolphins - August 10-15

Live your dream to connect and awaken the dolphin spirit within.  Asia Voight, Animal Communicator, on the trip of a lifetime to Bimini, Bahamas.  Go on the dolphin trip and Asia will donate, in your name, $50.00 to Dane County Humane Society.  For more information, please contact Asia at asiavoight@aol.com.

Catapalooza - August 15 & 16

Come to DCHS for a celebration of cats!  Enjoy games and activities during our 29-hour cat adopt-a-thon starting August 15th at 12:00pm and ending August 16th at 5:00pm.
 

Patricia McConnell:  Dogs Have Owners, Cats Have Staff

We are also delighted to announce that renowned animal behaviorist Patricia McConnell will be presenting an informative and entertaining overview of feline behavior at Catapalooza on Friday, August 15th at 7:00pm.

Feline Friends Fund

The Feline Friends Fund provides lifesaving donations directly to the homeless cats at Dane County Humane Society. Help support our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of cats that come through our doors. Contributions to the Feline Friends Fund support cat adoption programs, spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce chronic overpopulation, as well as outreach and educational efforts to make our community a safer, kinder place for cats. Dane County Humane Society's Animal Medical Services (AMS) provides outstanding medical attention and care to ALL of the homeless animals that come through our doors.
