Area Breed Rescue Groups

Every humane society and shelter hopes that you will come to them to adopt your new best friend and save a life.  But where do you go when they don't have the specific breed or animal that is a good match for your family?  Breed Rescue Organizations are a great alternative!

Commonly, breed rescues are independent groups that typically take in animals of one particular species and/or breed.  By specializing in only one species or breed, they are able to provide adopters with medical and behavioral information specific to that type of animal.  Additionally, most breed rescues house animals in foster homes until they are adopted.  The foster family will be able to provide you with even more information about the individual animal and how it does in a home setting.

When contacting a rescue group, please remember that they are often a small group of individuals that are volunteering their own time to help these animals.  Be patient!  They will do their best to find the right match for your home but finding that perfect new family member can take time.

Feline Friends Fund

The Feline Friends Fund provides lifesaving donations directly to the homeless cats at Dane County Humane Society. Help support our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of cats that come through our doors. Contributions to the Feline Friends Fund support cat adoption programs, spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce chronic overpopulation, as well as outreach and educational efforts to make our community a safer, kinder place for cats.
