Donations and Monthly Giving

Any amount of donation at any time is so very critical to our animals in need.

Constant Companion

Join our monthly giving program that allows you to give conveniently and automatically with either your membership or as a stand-alone donation.  A Constant Companion donation allows us to plan and budget more efficiently and expand spay and neuter and outreach services to alleviate the problem of pet overpopulation and homelessness, not just react to it.

Feline Friends Fund

The Feline Friends Fund provides lifesaving donations directly to the homeless cats at Dane County Humane Society. Help support our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of cats that come through our doors. Contributions to the Feline Friends Fund support cat adoption programs, spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce chronic overpopulation, as well as outreach and educational efforts to make our community a safer, kinder place for cats.

Help Me Heal Fund

Dane County Humane Society's Animal Medical Services (AMS) provides outstanding medical attention and care to ALL of the homeless animals that come through our doors. We depend on your kindhearted donations to make these miracles happen.

Planned Giving

Estate gifts, commonly called "planned gifts," include bequests, securities, charitable trusts, life insurance, retirement accounts, and more.  By naming DCHS as a beneficiary, you leave a legacy that continues your compassion and commitment to animal welfare.

However you decide to include DCHS in your estate plan, tell us about it!  Our new Legacy Society acknowledges during your lifetime your generous legacy gifts.  Tell Development Director, Jan Viney of your decision, or find out more about our Planned Giving Program and how your gifts can help our mission at (608) 838-0413 ext. 117 or janviney@giveshelter.org.

Charitable Remainder Trust

It offers advantages to DCHS as well as you and your loved ones.  This irrevocable trust will pay you an income for life or for a period of years.  The trust can also pay income to a spouse, children, or others.  At the death of the beneficiary, the remaining principal in the trust goes to support DCHS.

Charitable Lead Trust

Similar to the previous option except DCHS typically receives the income from the trust for a stated number of years and then the remaining principle passes to a beneficiary.  The lead trust is ideal if you are willing to forgo investment income on an asset, but do not want to have estate taxes reduce the principal passed on to heirs.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Designed for people 60 years of age or older to want to make a tax-deductible legacy gift while receiving a lifetime annual income from that gift.  A charitable gift annuity is created through our partnership with Madison Community Foundation.  The donor receives a guaranteed stipend for life.  Upon their death the remainder amount is added to the DCHS edowment fund providing a stream of income - forever.

Animal Sponsorship

Your gift of just $35 provides care for any one of our shelter animals.  This one-time gift sponsors an individual animal until it is adopted.  Your financial support directly assists animals through services such as:  adoptions, lost pets, spay/neuter assistance, lifesaving medical treatment, adult and child education, and wildlife rehabilitation programs.

Tribute Gifts

Making a charitable donation is a wonderful way to honor or memorialize an individual or pet while showing your compassion for the homeless animals who are still waiting to find their forever families.

Gateway Guardians

The Gateway Guardian Program provides sponsorship of an actual dog, cat, or critter kennel for an entire year. Every animal that resides in that kennel will benefit personally from your generous support. And the thousands of visitors to our shelter each year will know and appreciate your caring community support of the homeless animals of Dane County.

A personalized plaque displaying your name, business, and/or message of your choice is available for only $500 per year. For roughly a dollar a day, you can change the world for an animal in need of warm, safe shelter.

Bricks

Help us build a path of love and hope! Purchase a personalized brick featuring a tribute to a well-loved person or animal. These bricks will pave a walkway through our gardens and provide a long lasting opportunity to honor or memorialize a family member, friend, or animal companion while supporting the lifesaving work of Dane County Humane Society.

In Honor or In Memory Donation

What better way to honor a special person or occasion (perhaps a birthday, wedding, anniversary or holiday) than by helping others?  Looking for the perfect way to remember a special person or pet?  An honorary or memory donation to Dane County Humane Society will help further our efforts to provide shelter and care for the thousands of homeless animals that enter our doors each year.

Workplace Giving

Hundreds of people support our work each year through payroll contributions in this workplace giving program.

United Way

DCHS is proud to be a donor designation agency through United Way of Dane County.  Please give to United Way and choose DCHS #1180 as your designated charity.

Allstate Annual Giving Campaign

Every year Allstate makes it possible for its employees and agencies to donate to charitable organizations of their choice.  Allstate matches 15 cents on every dollar and donate an additional 5 cents to United Way.  The company also handles all of the administrative costs associated with the campaign.

Wells Fargo Community Support Campaign

Each year during the Wells Fargo Community Support/United Way Campaign, team members can support any non-profit, school, or religious organization they choose, or the United Way Community Fund where they work or live.  100% of team member donations reach the agencies of their choice. In addition, each year team members support the campaign by holding fundraisers.  Team members also contribute their time as part of the Community Support Campaign. During the annual “Week of Caring,” thousands of team members across the country lend a hand at local community service agencies.

Matching Gifts Programs

To find out if your employer participates in a matching gifts program, please check with your Humane Resource department or Personnel office and ask for the proper forms.  Then just fill in your portion, send it to us, and we'll do the rest!  Many employers will even match gifts after you retire.
