Development Assistant
Scope of Position: The Development Assistant is responsible for providing direct support to the Outreach and Annual Giving Supervisor. As a member of the Development department, this position will also assist as needed and directed in other departmental activities related to successful achievement of the annual departmental goals.
Schedule: Part-time, 8-hour week position with flexible morning and/or afternoon schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties will be executed by and under the direction of the Outreach and Annual Giving Supervisor.
Outreach

Create bimonthly e-newsletter using an online module

Design, produce, and/or distribute flyers and brochures as needed

Act as a back-up for shelter tours and educational activities

Work with volunteers on development projects
Annual Giving

Generate mailings according to the solicitation plan

Acknowledge individual and youth donors via written thank you cards

Fulfill online orders as needed

Solicit donations and build relationships via telephone and email contact
Preferred Qualifications

Ability to carry out mission, goals, and objectives of the programs within the scope of the current plan.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Advanced computer knowledge including database management, internet navigation, mail merge capabilities, and document creation.

Solid organizational abilities.

High level of trustworthiness and accuracy in handling of cash, checks, and credit cards.

Familiarity with and/or a willingness to learn the philosophies of animal welfare.

Part-time Shelter Outreach Services Veterinary Technician
Description: The Animal Medical Services department is looking for a part-time Shelter Outreach Services Veterinary Technician.
Wage/Hours: Starting wage is $10-12/hour depending on veterinary technician experience. The position is Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30am – 6pm.
Projects: Shelter Outreach Services provides mobile spay/neuter services to surrounding area rescues and shelters on location. Technician responsibilities include travel to surgical sites, set-up of surgical equipment, assisting vet with brief physical exams on cats and dogs presented for surgery, administering medications, inducing and prepping surgical patients for spay/neuter, monitoring anesthesia, recovering patients, helping train volunteers and monitoring inventory. Additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications: We are looking for team-oriented individuals with strong veterinary technician training and good communication and people skills. Certification is preferred. Critical evaluation and observation skills, and strong animal handling/restraint experience (including feral cat handling) is a must.
