Second Chances Fund

Second Chances

Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) is partnering with Thompson Correctional Center (TCC) to provide training and socialization skills to dogs needing a second chance.

First, inmates at TCC must pass vigorous standards before accepted into this program.  Once accepted, the inmates are taught by a DCHS dog behaviorist on how to train and care for the dog assigned to them.  DCHS monitors the progress of the training.  The dog lives with the inmate trainer 24 hours per day.

After 12 weeks of intense dog training (including simple commands like come, sit, and stay as well as the all important house training) the dog returns to DCHS for graduation and adoption into their new forever home!

We couldn't make these second chances without the support of our donors.  Please click here to donate directly to the Second Chances Fund.
