Spay Days

Spay days are back! If you have a financial need for low-cost spay or neuter services for your family cat, we can help you help them!  Cost is $26 by cash or check, and it includes an FVRCP vaccine.  We have appointments available Monday through Thursday and every other Saturday.  Free microchips for cats spayed or neutered Monday through Thursday beginning July 1, 2008.

We have a very limited number of appointments available for low-cost spay and neuter for dogs over 40 pounds.  Cost is $65, male or female.  At this time, few appointments are available for large dogs, and there are no appointments available for dogs under 40 pounds.  Appointments for cats, pit bull terriers, and pit bull terrier mixes are always readily available.  Free microchips for pit bull terriers and pit bull terrier mixes spayed or neutered through SNAP beginning July 1, 2008.

Feral Fix

If you are a caretaker of feral or free-roaming cats, we have some very affordable options for spay or neuter of outdoor cat colonies.  FREE spay/neuter for free-roaming cats in Dane County all summer!  This includes ear tip and FVRCP and Rabies vaccines. Call the DCHS Spay/Neuter Outreach Coordinator, at (608) 838-0413 ext. 103 for details.

Shelter Outreach Services (SOS)

Shelters and Rescue groups, our SOS program is expanding to meet your needs! If your group has previously thought that Shelter Outreach Services wasn’t for you, help is now available. The Spay/Neuter Outreach Coordinator can help you connect with other small rescues to share a clinic day, help you find the right site for hosting a clinic, and help you recruit and train volunteers. Appointments for in-house spay and neuter have become much more limited for shelters and rescue groups, but SOS can accommodate your needs!

Do you have questions in general or want to set-up an appointment? Please contact the DCHS Spay/Neuter Outreach Coordinator at (608) 838-0413 ext. 103 or at lizyohn@giveshelter.org.

DVM Pharmaceuticals generously funds the Dermatophyte Monitoring and Treatment Program, a partnership between Dane County Humane Society and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine Shelter Medicine Dermatology Project.  Their generous donation has allowed us to screen all cats at admission for ringworm thus protecting the staff, animals, and public who come to the shelter.  DVM Pharmaceuticals also funded our Ringworm Treatment Facility for 2005.  We also thank DVM Pharmaceuticals for their generous donations of LymDyp that makes treatment possible for so many cats.
