DCHS hosts a Pet Loss Support Group the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm at the main shelter. This group is intended to help people deal with or prepare for the loss of a companion animal. It offers the opportunity to share experiences and listen to others in a supportive and friendly environment.
The meetings are facilitated by Deb Jarrett and are free of charge. Jarrett has a background in animal medical services with eight years of experience as a veterinary technician. In addition, she has worked as a mental health therapist for 11 years with experience in both individual and group therapy. She is currently employed by the Mental Health Center of Dane County.
All are welcome to join the group meetings held at DCHS (5132 Voges Road, Madison). Please register in advance by leaving your name and phone number with the DCHS Volunteer Coordinator at (608) 838-0413 ext. 114.
