Volunteer Positions: Behind the Scenes

BEHIND THE SCENES

There’s plenty of work to be done behind the scenes, helping staff make sure that everything runs smoothly and our animals get the best care! If you’re looking to stay out of the limelight and make a contribution where it’s often needed the most, consider one of these opportunities:

 

  • Admitting Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by assisting admitting staff in keeping accurate, up-to-date vaccination and intake records and by communicating identified medical issues to veterinary staff. 

 

  • Building Maintenance & Grounds Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of our building and grounds. 

     

  •  Foster Program Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by assisting the Foster Program Coordinator in the placement of animals into foster care including orientation, training and communication with foster parents. 

 

  • Photography Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by assisting the shelter in photographing the animals in our care. By photographing the shelter’s animals Photography Assistants ultimately help to reunitelost pets with their owners and find new homes for the homeless pets. 

     

  • Spay Day Data Entry Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by preparing necessary paperwork for Saturday Spay Day clients. Volunteers in this invaluable role help ensure that Saturday Spay Day staff and volunteers are prepared to handle the check-in of 50+ clients and patients early Saturday mornings.

 

  • Development Administrative Assistant

    This position supports Dane County Humane Society’s mission and core values by assisting with daily Development Department activities including data entry, preparation of mailing materials, and miscellaneous administrative projects.

Feline Friends Fund

The Feline Friends Fund provides lifesaving donations directly to the homeless cats at Dane County Humane Society.  Contributions support cat adoption programs, spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce chronic overpopulation, as well as outreach and educational efforts to make our community a safer, kinder place for cats.
