Veterinary Care
Dane County Humane Society is an open admission shelter, meaning all animals are accepted regardless of their age or health condition. Each year we handle approximately 7,000 stray and surrendered animals. It is difficult to estimate how many animals come to us daily, but we handle between 400-700 animals each month.
In addition for caring for animals that come to our shelter, two high-volume spay and neuter clinic programs are regularly held which depend on your help for their success. Shelter Outreach Services (S.O.S) is our mobile shelter outreach program, bringing spay and neuter services to rescue groups and shelters in Dane County and in surrounding counties. During our Saturday Spay Days, the shelter provides low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats of Dane County and surrounding counties.
