December 2011 Small Change that Made a BIG Difference! Six exceptional young ladies from Huegel Elementary School wanted to do something to help the homeless animals over the holiday time. They knew people were busy thinking about buying gifts for each other; they didn’t want the many homeless animals to be forgotten. With the help and guidance of their teacher, Ms. Krueger, the girls wrote an essay explaining why donating to the Humane Society was important and then turned their essay into a speech that they shared with the other classes at Huegel. Fourteen additional classes quickly joined the cause and worked together to raise over $300 in change in 2 short weeks. Food, toys, treats and a doggy jacket were also collected and donated to DCHS.
