Cathy Holmes

Cathy has been a volunteer at DCHS since 1989 when she led the computerization of several departments at the shelter. She was also one of the first canine foster volunteers, helping over 40 dogs heal and find loving homes over the years. Cathy was elected to DCHS's Board of Directors in 2001, serving as Treasurer and as President from 2004-2016. She is the founder and chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Board Operations Committee and chair of the Nominating Committee. As a volunteer, she chaired the Bark & Wine Fundraiser Committee for six years. Cathy has a BBA and an MS in Business from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and, as a CPA, she runs her own business and management consulting firm, Metis Management Solutions, LLC. Cathy and her husband have been married for over 30 years, sharing their home with 10 dogs. Cathy feels the reason she is so passionate about DCHS is summarized by Mohandas Gandhi in his quote: 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.'

“We, as people, can grow so much by learning to care for those who need us. And the reward from kindness to animals is so greatly returned in love and joy!” says Cathy.
