Most DCHS and Wildlife Center services are by appointment only. If you found a lost animal, need to surrender a pet, found wildlife in need of help, or require another service, please call before coming to the shelter. Adoption visits are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

President-Elect

Laura Murray

Laura joined DCHS's Board of Directors in 2011 and has served on the Finance, Development and Legislative Committees. In 2010, Laura co-chaired the Bark & Wine committee. In 2011, she was nominated by DCHS for the United Way Community Volunteer Award. Laura is a Financial Advisor at Baird where she develops investment strategies and holistic financial plans for her clients. She is a lecturer at her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she teaches financial life skills to juniors and seniors in the Department of Consumer Science.

In addition to her services to DCHS, Laura served on the Executive Women’s Golf Association Board of Directors and as a mentor for the UW-Madison/Baird Women In Business program as well as the Baird Foundations program. She is also a member of the Doyenne Group. Laura’s main priorities for serving DCHS include promoting community education on animal welfare, as well as, creating alliances within the community to further the DCHS mission and increase donations. Laura spends much of her time doting on her two black labs, Gus and Lefty, and visiting her hometown in Door County. Her passions are cooking, golf, reading, music and enjoying the outdoors.
