Sara joined DCHS's Board of Directors in April 2016. She is a board-certified small animal surgeon at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include thoracic and urogenital surgery, teaching, increasing veterinary access for shelter animals and low-income families, and increasing diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine. For over 10 years, Sara has performed surgery and surgical consults for DCHS's Animal Medical Services on a volunteer basis.
Sara spends her free time with her wife, Lydia (who is also a veterinarian), and her 3 children, Maggie, Ty, and Noah. She enjoys playing hockey, running and spending time outside.
