Sara joined DCHS's Board of Directors in April 2016. She is a board-certified small animal surgeon at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (UW Veterinary Care). She is also a graduate of the UW School of Veterinary Medicine. For over 10 years, Sara has performed surgery and surgical consults for DCHS's Animal Medical Services on a volunteer basis. She also recently joined DCHS's Wildlife Center steering committee.
Sara spends her free time with her partner, Lisa, and her two little girls, Maggie and Emily, and she enjoys playing hockey, running and spending time outside. Sara has two rescue dogs, Luna (Golden Retriever) and Bernie (Chihuahua), and three rescue kitties, Anna, Thomas and “Kitten”. Sara adopted Thomas from DCHS in 2013. Kitten was recently adopted from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) due to a congenital birth defect of her diaphragm requiring a specialized surgery.
