We have great news to share! Because of your generous donation to Eddie’s Help Me Heal fund, we raised more than the $1,750 needed to repair Eddie’s painful fracture in his hip joint. The April 21 procedure allowed Eddie’s hip to heal correctly and will prevent future pain and arthritis. Dr. John Silbernagel, of Madison Veterinary Specialists, did a great job with a tricky surgery and we are especially appreciative of their support and expertise.
Eddie rested and recovered for a month and a half with a loving foster family. During his recovery, he quickly made himself at home and loved being around his canine foster brothers, Walter (Vizsla) and Charlie (German Shorthair Pointer). Eddie needed daily physical therapy and was encouraged and closely monitored by his foster family while he began using his limb again.
“Eddie’s recovery went smoothly and it was fun to watch him gain confidence using his leg pain free. Eddie also got along great with our two dogs and many times we’d find them all playing and then relaxing together. When we’d do the physical therapy with Eddie, it was sometimes uncomfortable and a bit painful, our two dogs would lay near us to make sure Eddie was ok. Eddie was a joy to have!”

We are also excited and happy to announce that Eddie was officially adopted last weekend into a perfect new home with another canine brother! The bottom left photo in the collage is Eddie with this new family. The other photos are of his time with his amazing foster family.
Thank YOU for helping this sweet puppy receive the specialized care needed. We couldn’t go the extra mile without you and we are so grateful for your commitment to helping animals.
Any remaining funds raised above those needed for Eddie’s surgery and follow-up care will be used to continue the work DCHS’s Animal Medical Services does every day.
Thank you for joining our mission of Helping People Help Animals!
