World Bird Migration Day: Crafting for a Safer Migration

5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718

Sat. Oct 11th, 2025

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Bird migration is peaking across Wisconsin and an art conservation event on October 11th at Dane County Humane Society aims to help save birds from window collisions and raise money for Dane County Humane Society’s Wildlife Center to care for injured birds brought to them every year after such collisions.

Participants will learn about incredible birds making epic journeys and what we can all do to reduce the threat of birds flying into our windows. You’ll hear about different types of window treatments are effective in preventing collisions, and how reducing light pollution plays a role.

Then, each attendee will decorate a soft bird sculpture as part of a national travelling art exhibit raising awareness of the serious threat window collisions pose. For every bird sculpture completed at the event, co-sponsors SOS Save Our Songbirds and Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance will donate $5 to DCHS’s Wildlife Center for bird rehabilitation.

This event is family friendly. Grab your friends or your kids and join us! The event is free, but registration is requested to plan enough supplies.
