Most DCHS and Wildlife Center services are by appointment only. If you found a lost animal, need to surrender a pet, found wildlife in need of help, or require another service, please call before coming to the shelter. Adoption visits are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Clear The Shelters Adoption Event

Main Shelter - 5132 Voges Rd

Fri. Aug 27th, 2021 to Sat. Aug 28th, 2021

Join Dane County Humane Society to Clear The Shelters and find loving homes for animals in our community! On August 27th and 28th, from 10:00 am-7:00 pm, we're teaming up with NBC15 to host the fifth annual Clear The Shelters pet adoption event. All dog, cat, and critter adoption fees will be reduced during this event:

  • $50 off dog adoption fees
  • $5 adoption fee for senior or adult cats
  • $75 adoption fee for kittens
  • Half-price adoption fees for critters
  • Further reduced adoption fees for animals in our Lonely Hearts Club

We recommend that potential adopters check out the animals available for adoption on our website prior to arriving at the shelter, and adopters should be prepared to take the animal home that day.

You will be added to the wait list on arrival, and adoptions will take place in a first-come-first-served fashion. Our wait list system requires a cell phone number, and will send a text message when we are ready to meet with you. We anticipate a big turnout and long wait times. We'll have a waiting area, but adopters are also welcome to bring lawn chairs or other items to make their wait more comfortable.

All visitors will be required to wear a mask at the shelter and are encouraged to maintain social distancing.
