Homecoming Dog Adoption Special

DCHS is nearly full of dogs, and we’re offering special adoption discounts on dogs of all ages!

Make this Madison Homecoming Weekend one to remember by bringing home a new best friend. Starting Friday and continuing through the weekend, DCHS is offering special adoption discounts to help more dogs find homes and make room for the animals who continue to arrive at our shelter.

We have a large number of wonderful adoptable dogs waiting for families, from two-month-old puppies to 18-year-old super seniors. Because our public-facing kennels are full, some adoptable dogs are currently being cared for in areas of the shelter that aren't visible to the public. Preview our animals online, and ask our Adoption Center staff to meet any dog you'd like to see!

Homecoming Weekend Adoption Specials

• Puppies up to 6 months: 25% off regular adoption fees
• Young adult and adult dogs, 6 months to 6 years: 50% off regular adoption fees
• Senior dogs, 7 years and older: Adoption fee waived
• Lonely Hearts Club dogs: Adoption fee waived

Our Lonely Hearts Club dogs have been at the shelter longer than average or have special needs that may make finding a home more challenging.

Why Now?

DCHS has only a few open dog kennels remaining. We’re helping overcrowded shelter partners by welcoming dogs who need a place to go, while also continuing to take in dogs from our local community. Nearly 30 local dogs have come into DCHS in just the past week, including stray and impounded dogs who need safe shelter and care.

When a dog finds a home, it doesn't just change that dog's life. It also creates space for us to help another animal who needs us.

Adoptions at DCHS are first come, first served. Adoption specials apply to same-day adoptions only; no holds.

Please expect longer wait times to meet with animals during the special. Our Adoption Center team will do their best to help everyone find the right match.
