Most DCHS and Wildlife Center services are by appointment only. If you found a lost animal, need to surrender a pet, found wildlife in need of help, or require another service, please call before coming to the shelter. Adoption visits are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

COVID-19 has dramatically changed life as we know it. What hasn't changed is Dane County Humane Society's focus on providing care to our community's animals. We have had to make significant changes to keep our humans safe while providing for animals with absolutely nowhere else to go in our community. At the same time, we've had to make the very difficult decision to cancel or suspend programs and services, several of which generate much needed funds to help us care for the animals. We had to cancel Toto's Gala, temporarily close our thrift store, and more.

Recognizing this is a critical time for DCHS and our animals, the Werndli Charitable Trust has issued a challenge grant. For every dollar donated here, they will double the gift, up to $15,000, through April 1!

Thank you for helping DCHS be here for animals during this unexpected crisis.
