If you know your recipient's email address, we encourage you to save postage and select "Email" to send them an e-card. Check out some of the image options you can choose from below! These are just a few - many more are available!

If you don't know your recipient's email address, then please add a comment to indicate whether you prefer a cat, dog, or wildlife postcard. After completing your gift, select "Postal mail." If you would like us to write a personalized message on the postcard, please fill out the message section.

Please note that we are unable to search for someone's mailing address, so if you cannot provide it, we are unable to send them a postcard.

How do I indicate in an obituary that I wish to have donations made to Dane County Humane Society in memory of my beloved one?

Simply include text like, “Memorial donations may be made to Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718 or at http://giveshelter.org/memorial” or “To honor (name)’s love for animals, please make a donation to Dane County Humane Society.”

How can people make memorial donations?

There are numerous ways people can make a donation in memory of a loved one: 1) On this webpage, which will give the option to send a customized ecard. 2) Mail a check to DCHS, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718 and include a small note indicating the name of the person or pet who is being remembered by your donation. If you would like us to notify the family that you have made a donation in memory of their family member or pet, please include the name and address of the recipient of the postcard and if you prefer a cat, dog or wildlife postcard. 3) In person at DCHS. Please come to the DCHS main entrance to make a donation when we are open. 4) Collect donations at the funeral or memorial service.

Please mail the checks to DCHS, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718. If a check was made out to you, and not DCHS, please deposit the check into your account and issue a new check made payable to Dane County Humane Society. Our bank does not accept 3rd party checks. If desired, please be sure to give us a list of the donors including their names, addresses, and the amounts given so that we can mail them each an acknowledgment letter and tax receipt.

I collected donations at a funeral or memorial. How do I get them to you? (Cash and/or checks)

If you received cash, please be sure to give us a list of the donors including their names, addresses, and the amounts given so that we can mail them each an acknowledgment letter and tax receipt. You can drop off the donations at DCHS when we are open. If you would rather mail in all donations, please write a personal check for the cash amount (do not send cash in the mail), include the list of cash donors, and mail to DCHS, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718.

Can I receive a list of the people who donate so that I can send personal thank you notes?

We can mail you a list of people and their addresses who make memorial gifts; we do not share the amount of donations to protect donor privacy. Please email Kelsie Matt at kmatt@giveshelter.org or call (608) 838-0413 ext 164. If someone indicated their gift as anonymous, we will not be able to share their name and address. Everyone who donates to DCHS receives an acknowledgment letter and tax receipt for their gift from us.

How soon can I get the list of memorial donors?

Please allow six weeks for the donations to arrive to Dane County Humane Society before we send out the complete list of donors.
