Help us close the decade with hope and happy endings

When you make a gift to Dane County Humane Society this holiday season, you give second chances to animals like Kringle.

Great News!

We're happy to share that puppy Kringle was adopted! Kringle is healthy, happy and excited to be starting the new year with a loving family.

Puppy gets fresh start in the new year

This 2-month-old puppy was recently found by a good Samaritan after she saw him thrown out of the window of a moving car. She rushed the injured puppy to UW Veterinary Care. Kringle was in a lot of pain, so the UW vets gave him pain medication to make him more comfortable before Kringle was transferred to DCHS for further care.

Once at DCHS, our Animal Medical Services team discovered Kringle had a fractured front, right leg. With a break so severe, it was determined amputation would give Kringle the best chance at a happy and healthy future.

Despite all these traumatic events, Kringle's loving personality couldn't help but shine through. As soon as you stepped into his kennel, Kringle would excitedly greet you with a tail wag and flop over for belly rubs.

Following a successful amputation surgery, Kringle is now recovering with a loving foster family. Once he is healed, Kringle will return to DCHS in search of a loving family and a fresh start in the new year.

Generosity like yours gives DCHS the ability to respond immediately to emergency situations like this and help thousands of animals just like Kringle.

So far in 2019, community support has meant:

  • Over 1,500 animals were transferred to DCHS to find brighter futures
  • Over 3,500 new families were formed through our Adoption Program
  • Over 695 lost animals have been joyfully reunited with their families
  • Over 3,800 local wildlife have received comfort and care at DCHS's Wildlife Center

Thank you for giving, and happy holidays from all of us at DCHS!
