Singing All the Way Home

Generous supporters like YOU gave this songbird a second chance!

UPDATE: Last month, we started this giving season with a generous matching challenge from the Don and Marilyn Anderson Foundation. Inspired by our incredible community, they surprised us with additional matching funds. Give by 11:59 pm on December 31st, 2024, to DOUBLE your impact for animals in our shelter and community up to $35,000!

This tiny, bright yellow bird, a Prothonotary Warbler, is a species of special concern here in Wisconsin due to habitat loss. This bird was the first of its species ever admitted to DCHS’s
Wildlife Center. He hopped into a garage in New Glarus where the homeowners noticed he could not fly — likely after hitting a window. Our Wildlife Center’s licensed rehabilitators found a fracture in his shoulder, so they provided pain management, rest, and care for the next three weeks until he healed and was released!

Sarah Karls is the Wildlife Rehabilitation Coordinator

When you give by December 31st, 2024, you can DOUBLE your impact for animals like this Prothonotary Warbler up to $30,000 thanks to a matching gift from the Don and Marilyn Anderson Foundation.

Continue Your Support

As a private, non-profit, donor-supported organization, we rely on your support to provide refuge, healing, and new beginnings to thousands of animals in need every year - animals like Jupiter and this Prothonotary Warbler.
