DCHS Thrift Store Expands

SHARE:

DCHS Thrift Store's East Side location is open!

We did it! Our dreams of expansion are finally realized!

Since its soft opening in July 2024, Dane County Humane Society’s (DCHS’s) new East Side Thrift Store at 5231 High Crossing Blvd. has been a huge success — selling nearly 70,000 donated items! With a sales floor double the size of our West Side location at 6904 Watts Rd., shoppers can browse over 20,000 unique items at any given time.

We couldn’t have done it without our amazing community of donors, shoppers, and volunteers. Your generosity fuels our mission, and we’re incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such supportive people.

Winter months typically bring a slowdown in donations, and since our grand opening, our inventory at both locations has been shrinking. With more space than ever to keep stocked, we need your help!

Consider donating your gently used items to DCHS Thrift Store to help benefit people and animals in your community! Take your donated items directly to one of our Thrift Stores, so they can quickly be sorted, priced, and put on the sales floor.

Not sure how to get some of your larger or heavier items to us? We partner with ReSupply, which will come load up your heavy furniture, bags of clothing, or heavy boxes of books for a reasonable fee and bring it directly to us.

Every single dollar we make from the sale of your donated items goes directly to DCHS to care for puppies, kittens, wildlife, and more. So stop in and see what treasures you can find!

Looking for a way to make a difference and be part of a fun, welcoming community? We need more volunteers at our East Side location! Specifically, we need volunteers who can assist shoppers, stock shelves, create beautiful displays, and check out customers on our easy-to-use point of sale system. We ask for a commitment of one weekly shift for only 2-3 hours, but you can volunteer more. Many of our volunteers pick up additional shifts after training because they enjoy the work they’re doing and the people they’re working with that much! Learn more and apply on our website: giveshelter.org/thrift

Thank you for helping us turn secondhand treasures into second chances for animals in need!
