Oodles of Care for Toodles

SHARE:

YOUR generous support gave this adorable kitten the care he needed to find his happy new beginning.

UPDATE! Last month, we started this giving season with a generous matching challenge from the Don and Marilyn Anderson Foundation. Inspired by our incredible community, they surprised us with additional matching funds. Give by 11:59 pm on December 31st, 2024, to DOUBLE your impact for animals in our shelter and community up to $35,000!

This adorable kitten, Toodles, came to DCHS from UW Veterinary Care after he was surrendered with extensive medical issues. He had ulcers in his mouth, he wasn’t eating, and he refused to put weight on a raw, wounded paw.

Our veterinary team examined him thoroughly and determined his injuries were probably from electrical burns, suggesting he had chewed a live wire. They quickly started him on pain medication and sent him home with a compassionate foster to keep him comfortable, monitor his injuries and appetite, and syringe-feed him as needed until his mouth healed enough that eating didn’t hurt.

Toodles lived with his foster family for over two months and periodically returned to DCHS for bandage changes, wound cleanings, and exams. Although our veterinarians considered amputating his leg, the care and medication proved enough to heal his injuries, and he was soon adopted.

When you give by December 31st, 2024, you can DOUBLE your impact for animals like Toodles up to $30,000 thanks to a matching gift from the Don and Marilyn Anderson Foundation.
