Most DCHS and Wildlife Center services are by appointment only, including reuniting lost animals, surrendering a pet, wildlife rehabilitation, and more. Adoption visits are first-come, first-served. We recommend checking our current waitlist prior to your visit.

Name: Vera

Age: Adult (~6 years old)

Weight (approx.): 45 lbs.

Personality: Hi there! My name is Vera and I'm so excited to meet ya! My best friend Anubis and I are looking for our forever home together! I enjoy a good snooze on a comfy bed and am pretty calm, but I do also like my stuffed toys and play-wrestling with Anubis. It's also fun to go on walks with Anubis and we walk together so well. I'm a cute little hound dog but I haven't been vocalizing during my stay at the shelter if you were worried about that. Sometimes new places or people can be intimidating, but if my family is there to help me build my confidence then it'll be easy to work through my worries! I've heard that positive reinforcement training classes can be pretty fun and can help with building confidence. Anubis and I just love each other so much that we'd prefer if we were the only dogs in the home! We so enjoy each other's company and are a ready-made dog family for some lucky person. We may not be staying in our dog kennel when you visit DCHS as we are keeping a staff member company in her office, so be sure to ask about as the Adoption Center.

Medical History: I recently tested positive for Lyme disease and will be sent home with some antibiotics as a precaution! My bloodwork shows nothing too concerning, so it would be a great idea to set me up with a new vet right after adoption!

Adoption Fee: Because we need to go home together and because we will need some ongoing medical care, our adoption fee has been reduced. Ask about us in the Adoption Center.
