Whitaker is an adult dog with a heart that's been through a lot-and he's looking for someone who understands that healing takes time, patience, and kindness.
He can be fearful around people, especially at first. Loud voices, fast movements, or overwhelming environments are tough for him. But if you move slow, speak softly, and kneel down, he will come to you and get wiggly, you'll start to see the trust build-and when it does, it's something truly special.
When it comes to other dogs, Whitaker needs slow, positive introductions. He's not the kind of dog who'll dive right into group play. High-energy dogs are too much for him-they overwhelm and frighten him-so he'd do best as a solo dog or with a calm, respectful companion who won't push his boundaries.
Small children may also be too unpredictable and energetic for Whitaker's comfort. He's looking for a low-key, adult household or one with older, dog-savvy teens who can respect his need for space and quiet.
Medical History: I appear to be a healthy adult dog, but it's always a good idea to set up an appointment with my new vet soon, so that we can meet and make plans to keep me happy and healthy!
