Rehome Your Pet

The DCHS rehoming service is an alternative to surrendering your pet to the shelter. By listing here, your pet is able to stay in the familiar comfort of your home until a new home is found. It also helps to alleviate overcrowding in the shelter due to the numerous unwanted animals arriving daily.

Requirements

This rehoming service is NOT intended for the sale of animals or purposely-bred litters. The goal of the rehoming service is for individual owners to find good, permanent homes for their animals, not make a profit on them. You may, however, ask for a donation for their adoption.

All animals listed through the rehoming service MUST be spayed/neutered if over the age of 6 months. They must also be current on vaccinations.

Including a photo of your animal is strongly encouraged since postings with photos often generate the most interest.

Postings older than 30 days will be deleted from our database. You are welcome to repost an updated listing of your pet every 30 days as needed.

Instructions

To get started, click on the appropriate category below. On the next page, click "Add your pet details here" to upload your information. In the "description" box, please make sure you indicate that your animal is spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. Without this, your listing cannot be approved. In general, approval takes 1-2 business days.
