Are you looking to earn an animal-related badge? DCHS offers workshops for:
Any Scout:
- DCHS Shelter Badge
Girl Scouts:
- Brownie - Pets badge
- Cadette - Animal Helpers badge
- Junior - Animal Habitats badge
- Senior - Assistance with Voice for Animals badge
Cub Scouts:
- Bear- Critter Care Adventure Loop
Each workshop includes a tour of DCHS, a project, interactions with our education animals, activities to complete the badge requirements and the appropriate badge. Workshops take approximately 90 minutes to complete.
Scout badge workshops are available in two formats:
- $250: Weekend workshops (1-20 participants)
- $150: Weekday workshops for small groups only (1-10 participants)
Workshops can be held Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. All sessions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend scheduling at least two months in advance.

Education program donations may be used to provide scholarships, add to presentation materials, provide extra craft supplies, or fill other needs for our education programs. As a private, non-profit organization that is not affiliated with any national or governmental organizations, DCHS relies on support like yours!

Cancellation Policy
Refunds may be granted up to 24 hours after payment has been submitted, less a $25.00 administration fee, if requested in writing to the Humane Educator at education@giveshelter.org. After 24 hours from payment submission, fees are non-refundable but the event reservation may be transferred to another date in some situations. Dane County Humane Society reserves the right to cancel events due to various circumstances.
Allergy Information
DCHS utilizes peanut butter for animal enrichment throughout the shelter, and therefore is unable to provide a peanut-free facility. We are unable to make accommodations for children with severe peanut allergies.
