Bark & Wine
Save the Date for Bark & Wine next year! Bark & Wine 2023 will be held on Saturday, September 30.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Bark & Wine! It was wonderful to have everyone back at the shelter again, meeting animals, seeing each other, and celebrating the good work we are accomplishing together.
Bark & Wine - By the Numbers:
- 41 volunteers gave their time and energy before, during, and after to create a wonderful event
- 175 auction items were donated by dozens of local businesses and individuals
- 275 attendees filled our hallways with laughter and energy throughout the night
- 44 businesses and individuals came together to support DCHS through event sponsorships
Our rough numbers tell us that we have many reasons to celebrate! Our business and individual sponsors came together to donate a total of $66,000 for the animals - our highest sponsorship total ever. Plus, thanks to the many auction donors and bidders, we are thrilled to celebrate our highest auction total ever. We raised over $29,000 through the auction alone. Altogether, Bark & Wine raised nearly $140,000 for the animals!
We are so humbled by the generosity we see from all of you throughout the year. Your steadfast support makes all the difference for the thousands of people and animals that come through our doors each year. Thank you!!

Bark & Wine has gone wild to celebrate our Wildlife Center’s 20th Anniversary!
In addition to snuggling puppies, playing with kittens, and enjoying tasty beverages and hors d’oeuvres, you’ll also get a peek behind the curtain to see how our wildlife rehabilitators save thousands of lives each year.
- 6:00-7:00 pm—VIP Reception
- 7:00-9:00 pm—General Admission
Guests will get to explore the main shelter and meet our companion animals, while also enjoying on-screen Wildlife Center tours, video stories of wild animals who have benefitted from DCHS's Wildlife Center, and displays to bring wildlife rehabilitation to you. It’s everything you love about a typical Bark & Wine, plus an extra celebration of our native critters!
Enjoy Tasty Treats
This year we are featuring sweet and savory bites at tasting stations throughout the shelter. Our friends at The Vibrant Veg and Heirloom Bakery and Kitchen are putting their own spin on our wild theme by incorporating wild combinations and foraged foods into their treats! Each station's bite will also be paired with a beverage sample, including new hard seltzers from One Barrel Brewing Company, hard strawberry soda from Karben4 Brewing, wines selected by the experts at Left Bank Wine, and (new this year) non-alcoholic beer and wine provided by Grüvi.
Online Auction and Matching Gift
We'll have over 100 items generously donated by local businesses, DCHS volunteers, and other supporters available in our online auction. All proceeds go to provide comfort and care to our animals. Check out the items available and start bidding now by clicking here. Thank you to all of the businesses who have donated items and services to our online auction!
During the event, we'll be featuring a $10,000 matching challenge by Deb Walton! Thanks to her generosity, gifts up to $1,000 will have TWICE the impact for animals in need. Your donations give DCHS the flexibility to apply the funds wherever they are needed most. When a baby owl falls out of its nest, when an unexpected dog transfer comes in, when we have the opportunity to help a pet stay with their loving family - In all these situations and more, your donations at events like Bark & Wine make it happen! Make your donation during Bark & Wine by clicking here.
Thank you!
