Hard economic times may result in tough choices regarding family pets for households struggling to stretch their limited resources. Families faced with the choice of purchasing pet food or providing for their family’s needs may have to make the heartbreaking decision to give up their pet.

Dane County Humane Society partners with the Community Action Coalition for South Central WI, Inc. (CAC) to supply pet food and cat litter to participating Dane County food pantries. Since its start in 2011, the program has collected and distributed over 260,000 pounds of pet food and kitty litter to local food pantries. (Please note that we do not operate a pet food pantry at DCHS. Donated food is sent out to participating pantries for distribution.)

Do you need pet supplies?

The following Dane County food pantries distribute pet food (dry or canned) and cat litter (clumping or clay). Please check with each pantry for their hours of operation and participation requirements. Each of these food pantries may be able to provide pet food, but supplies are limited.
