Presentations
DCHS can visit your school, business or organization to teach participants about different animal related topics. We offer multiple presentation lengths, and we are able to accommodate groups of all sizes.
Presentation Fees:
- 30 minutes - $60
- 60 minutes - $80
DCHS Education Programs have a travel fee with the price of presentations. The first 20 miles round trip to your facility will have no extra charge. For distances of more than 20 miles round trip, there will be a $1 charge per mile.

Field Trips
Love the idea of a tour and a presentation? Consider a field trip to the DCHS Main Shelter! Field trips to DCHS are 2-hour adventures, including a behind-the-scenes tour, time with our education animals, a craft or service project, and a presentation!
We require a minimum of 15 students to schedule a field trip and have a maximum number of 40.
Field Trip Fees:
- $10/participant
- No charge for up to 5 teachers / chaperones, any additional participants will incur a $10 fee per person
*We are unable to accommodate field trips during June-August due to Camp Pawprint occurring daily onsite.
Tours of the DCHS Main Shelter
A behind-the-scenes tour is available for groups of all ages, from preschoolers to older adults! During this one-hour tour, visitors will learn about DCHS, witness staff and volunteers in action, and view our available animals looking for homes. Tour guests will also get to meet our education animals.
Tour fees:
- 1-10 Participants: $50
- 11-20 Participants: $75
- 21-30 Participants: $100
- 31-40 Participants: $125
*Tour availability may be limited during June-August due to Camp Pawprint occurring onsite.

Wildlife Education Opportunities
Through our form below, you can request a number of different wildlife educational opportunities, including:

Cancellation Policy
Refunds may be granted up to 24 hours after payment has been submitted, less a $25.00 administration fee, if requested in writing to the Humane Educator at education@giveshelter.org. After 24 hours from payment submission, fees are non-refundable but the event reservation may be transferred to another date in some situations. Allergy Information
DCHS utilizes peanut butter for animal enrichment throughout the shelter, and is unable to provide a peanut free facility. We are unable to make accommodations for children with severe peanut allergies. DCHS also uses various forms of hay throughout the shelter, and comes in contact with some of our education animals.
Inclement Weather Policy
If weather-related issues require DCHS to close, updates will be posted on our website Instagram, and Facebook pages. Please check these platforms during severe winter conditions. If you’ve booked a tour, presentation, or field trip, a staff member will contact you directly by email about any cancellations and help with next steps.
