Are you over 70.5 years old and need to take a required minimum distribution from your traditional IRA? It is simple to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD, as a direct transfer from your IRA to DCHS. A QCD may help you avoid taxes and support DCHS. If we have received your contact information with your gift, we will mail you a donation receipt. Please allow at least 2-3 weeks to receive this receipt as donation checks sometimes take extra time to arrive at DCHS from your financial institution. Matching Gifts

Did you know some employers will double or even triple your donation to DCHS? Some of the area's largest employers, including American Family and Alliant Energy match gifts for retirees and employees. Please check with your human resource office and double (or triple!) your impact!

United Way

DCHS participates in the United Way of Dane County's annual workplace campaign as agency #1180. Ask your employer for a pledge form. Maybe we'll even see you for a kick-off rally at your worksite! DCHS can also be written in to out-of-area United Way forms as well.

Vehicle donations are a unique and impactful giving option that helps DCHS. Your unwanted car, truck, boat, motorcycle, SUV or even plane can be accepted as a donation through our partnership with CARS. Your generosity qualifies for a tax deduction and we’ll do all the heavy lifting. The pick-up is free and we’ll schedule it during a time that’s convenient for you. Gifts to the DCHS Endowment Fund with the Madison Community Foundation (MCF) last a lifetime and will ensure a permanent income stream for our mission. An endowment is a permanent investment that grows over time. Each year, a portion of each fund can be distributed to our cause. Rather than a one-time gift, an endowment continually generates resources that will be available forever.

Are you a member of Thrivent Financial who’s eligible to direct Choice Dollars? Choice Dollars charitable outreach funds can make a world of difference to our DCHS animals. By directing Choice Dollars, eligible Thrivent members recommend where they feel Thrivent should distribute a portion of its charitable funds. Directing Choice Dollars is easy. Log-on to Thrivent's website to make your allocation or call (800) 847-4836 and say “Thrivent Choice” after the prompt.

Making a charitable donation is a wonderful way to recognize an individual or pet, while showing your compassion for the homeless animals who are still waiting to find loving families.

Fill our Path of Love and Hope! Purchase a personalized brick featuring your tribute to a loved person or animal. Your brick will be placed in our brick path which provides a walkway on DCHS's grounds. This long-lasting opportunity to honor or remember a loved one supports the lifesaving work of DCHS.

You can help raise money for the animals by collecting your aluminum beverage cans and donating them to DCHS. Bring your cans to DCHS's Main Shelter and our volunteers will take them to be recycled and converted into a donation for the shelter. Over $50,000 has been raised since the beginning of this program and every can helps us care for animals in need. (Please keep tabs on the cans when donating.)

Cards for a Cause: Da Goodist Doggies Tarot Deck & Da Biscuit Makers’ Blessings Oracle Deck 

This heartfelt fundraising project by interdisciplinary artist and educator Amy Froelich blends original digitally-collaged art, storytelling and deep compassion for animals. Each Tarot and Oracle card features a real rescue dog or cat (paired with their heroic humans) and the booklet expands upon those meaningful rescue stories while tying in the symbolism of each card. 

Every sale is an opportunity to raise funds for animals in need, because 50% of each purchase gets immediately donated to DCHS when you enter Dane County Humane Society as the rescue/shelter of choice when placing your order.
