Most DCHS and Wildlife Center services are by appointment only. If you found a lost animal, need to surrender a pet, found wildlife in need of help, or require another service, please call before coming to the shelter. Adoption visits are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Volunteer at Brat Fest

Next opportunity with Brat Fest: 2022

It's time for Brat Fest again, which takes place in Madison from May 27-29. Each year, Brat Fest depends on nearly 5,000 volunteers from supporting organizations like DCHS. DCHS receives $8.00 for each hour served by Brat Fest volunteers that select DCHS as their charity. Help is also needed with set up from May 22-26.

Anyone can do this, and it’s a fun way to help the critters waiting to find their new homes at Dane County Humane Society. Brat Fest volunteers do not need to be DCHS volunteers. You can even have family members, friends, co-workers join you in the fun at Brat Fest! You must be at least 14 years old to volunteer alone at Brat Fest.
